Why did Jesus come to Earth as a man?
by StopTheTears injesus lived in heaven as a spirit person before he came to earth.
god used him as his chief spokesman.
that is why jesus is called "the word.".

Unrest in the Governing Body
by JWFreak inone of the many questions that i am asked is what are the current gb members like, who are the hardliners and who are more moderate.. because of my previous job, at a european bethel, i had dealings with most of them with the exception of sam herd.. these are my observations of my conversations with them and how others who had dealings with them.. other ex bethelites may have contrary views to mine, but i would be surprised.. i had spent a lot of time with splane, lett and morris.
hardliners.
david splane, without doubt the one who commands the most respect and attention.

Somewhere out there is a cynical ambitious 30 or 40 year old elder/pioneer, maybe even a CO, who has begun partaking of the emblems, with the idea that in 15 or 20 years time he will get "promoted" to the GB and can begin implementing his ideas....
He'd be joining the Platinum Contemporaries Club

This thread is up my alley. I'm contemplating whether or not I should buy a new car. I've been weighing the pros and cons, and my current vehicle is starting to become a burden in expenses. What kills me, and I mean really makes me angry, is that the most recent times something went wrong on my car was during so called theocratic activities. You know, taking people to the meetings, driving almost two hours to do a half hour talk in another congregation, doing return visits. The only positive thing about the situation is that it awoke me to how selfish those pricks are in Bethel. They want to guilt trip you to do more, more, more. The branches send CO's and DO's to guilt trip you to do more, more, more. Don't ever expect them to do anything for you though. They could care less about whatever your financial situation is. So nowadays, I don't donate anything to the so called world wide work, or the Kingdom Hall Fund. I'm not taking the CO or his wife out to lunch, dinner or any of that. They can fend for themselves. All these people mooching in the name of Jehovah, they make me sick.

Movies are big business and if the customer wants depravity the customer gets depravity. The reason why senseless violence was not as vivid in past movies is because there were less customers that wanted it.
You know Sab, I wonder if that's only partially true. I say that because it maybe true that customers didn't demand that kind of entertainment as much back, but is it possible that they realized, that kind of entertainment simply wasn't available? For instance, my father, he loves the old black and white version of The Thing. He said back when he was a kid, that was the scariest thing ever. When I saw it, I was like, "what is this crap?" On the other hand, the 80's John Carpenter remake with Kirk Russell scared that crap out of me, and I loved it!!! That kind of material wasn't available back then. Even if you consider westerns, remember those horrible good guy always wins, and he wears white hats and white boots, and he gets the girl and all that crap? Remember when someone would get shot and they die like they had a peptic ulcer and the pharmacy just gave the last bit of Nexium to the previous customer? Or when two cowboys would fight, and it was apparent that they weren't truly hitting each other? That changed when Sergio Leone started doing the Spaghetti Westerns, and it changed the whole landscape of Westerns. We were finally being entertained by the real thing and we show our appreciation today by going to Best Buy and purchasing the special DVD of A Fistful of Dollars with bonus shootings!!
The type of violence that could be acted on the screen just wasn't available because the method actors weren't born yet, and the technology just wasn't there to make it look realistic. However, don't think that just because it couldn't be done, that people didn't satisfy their violent bloodlust in other entertaining ways. Back when this country was supposedly morally superior, they were hanging blacks from trees, and people from all over would come to the event!! That was entertainment back then. They would bring their children, and if their kids couldn't see they'd put the kid on their backs just like at the zoo watching a nigger die. So me personally, I'm not entirely convinced that violent entertainment was any less in demand back then as much as the options weren't as diverse as is nowadays.

Damn, that's good logic. Makes 115% sense. This is one thing that I have struggled with. Honestly more people on this earth are familiar with Catholicism or Islam than the JWs. (not saying the Catholicism and Islam are the right religions, I'm just saying let's face it, you can find them represented more on this earth than the Witnesses.)
One last thing on this line of discussion, is regarding the issue of judging. When the WT teaches that their organization and several obscure old men of European descent and one token black represent the faithful and discreet slave, and that salvation is only possible by recognizing such, they're in effect judging. They're saying that no matter how much good people do on behalf of their fellow man, and how much people stick to the letter of God's laws and principles out of love and respect for God & neighbor, the fact that they don't recognize the WT as Jehovah's organization, invalidates all the good they've done. That doesn't even make sense, its not remotely logical and flies in the face of reason, not to mention what's taught in the scriptures. Or rather I should say for emphasis, it highlights with the most fluorescent distinction that what the WT teaches is NOT what's taught in the scriptures. The WT tries to cover its tracks by paying the occasional lip service going, "Well we don't read hearts, but God does. " Meanwhile three paragraphs later they're looking forward to everyone except them being destroyed in just a little while, all because they didn't how important it was to kiss Theodore Jaracz behind. That's judging and it was something that Jesus condemned. So regardless if someone is Catholic, or Protestant, or whatever, the reality is its not up to us as humans to determine who's recieving salvation and who's not. Other denominations have done more on behalf of their fellow man than the WT could ever lay claim to.

I noticed something else about Eve as she's taking the fruit...
I'll keep quiet overnight and see if anyone else notices or had the same thought I did...
I don't know if this is what you're thinking, but something I just noticed is why are her eyes closed as if she's getting ready to perform citric felatio? I don't have any fruit on me right now, but I don't think I or anybody else closes their eyes when eating fruit. She's got her eyes closed like what she's about to do is get intimate, sensual, or something along that line. I haven't kissed a woman in so long, but I seem to recall closing my eyes when doing so.

100% agree. "Us or Them" mentality at it's most blatant. Which leads me to my next question in this thread.....
What are your thoughts on this Matthew 24:14? As much as I disagree with many of the WTBS's doctrine, there is a pretty large preaching campaign carried out by them. How do you guys interpret this "sign"?
"This gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."
e
Good question, there's a couple thoughts that come to mine, and I have to say thank you to Terry for getting me on the right track. He asked the question in a thread, If there always was a faithful and discreet slave on the earth, why didn't Russell join up with them? That hit me like a bullet when I read that. An argument can be made that the WT is probably the most visible with a large preaching campaign, however, how'd they get the message? From the Adventists!! Where'd the Adventist's get the message? From the Millerites! Where'd the Millerites get the message? From the Baptists! So on, so on, so on...... All of these groups according to WT doctrine make up Babylon the Great, however all of them were instrumental to the WT's birth! Not to mention, the WT isn't the only group preaching today. There's Mennonites, Mormons, heck even Nation of Islam members sell bean pies and The Final Call magazine near the closest liquor store in any black neighborhood. Christianity wouldn't exist in foreign countries today if not for the efforts of missionaries from Catholic and Protestant denominations. JWs wouldn't be able to preach the good news and have some kind of repoire with other denominations if someone from some denomination other than JWs hadn't already taught them about Jesus.
The other thing too is, while its true that preaching the good news of the kingdom is a feature of the last days, Jesus didn't say that the door to door ministry was specifically nor exclusively how that prophetic feature was to be fulfilled. Just because JWs knock on doors like ONE ACCOUNT states in the scriptures, doesn't invalidate the efforts of TV Ministers, pew leaders who wait on the sincere ones to enter their church doors, religious messages on billboards, or even the random Jesus freak you run into at the supermarket or at the bus station. Considering the WT states that the door to door work is pretty much the only accepted way of preaching the good news, and they base that upon ONE ACCOUNT in the scriptures, then how come they don't preach in synogogues and Pagan temples like the apostle Paul, Peter, and John did?

Verses like those found in Matt 24, 28, 2 Tim 3, and 2 Pet 3 have allowed so many unscrupulous religious people to make a living off of other people based upon fear and uncertainity. To me what's important to remember is, there has not ever been a recorded time in history where there wasn't uncertainty. The events that Jesus prophesied about, and Paul followed up on in his second letter to Timothy relate occurences and events which have been problematic for as long as we can ever recall. As far as we're concerned, earthquakes, wars, and other problems have always been a feature of human existance. When you look at Matthew 24, Jesus stated that there would be wars, earthquakes, and famines in various places. He did NOT say there would be an increase or a noticeable shift in these events. Rather he said that his followers SHOULD NOT be alarmed. Jesus knew in advance that there would be individuals(Campings) and even organizations(Watchtower) playing off of the fear and uncertainty and that's why Jesus warned his followers to not be decieved because many would be as a result of the false prophets saying, "he's out in the wilderness!", or "he's in the inner rooms!" Matter fact it wouldn't be a difficult thing to replace "out in the wilderness" with "ruling invisibly in the spirit world since 1914", or replace "he's in the inner rooms" with "he's stepped into the inner sanctuary."
The events that are taking place have been going on for thousands of years, so much so that its commonplace for us to hear of earthquakes and wars. We're being tempered, we've become accustomed to bad news, our children are accustomed to bad news. The problem is if we forget our obligation and duties as Christians, not to mention our hopes, and as a result we start behaving not as Christians but as unbelievers. Or our outlook is that of unbelievers. Otherwise we may be like the rich man who couldn't sell all of his posessions in order to follow Jesus, not making sure of the more important things. Life would be typical to us, normal, as things have always been in the days of our forefathers-2 Pet 3. If events were to noticeably climax to the point that it became obvious that there's a problem in the world, then what purpose would faith have? Would people worship out of love and faith, or out of fear? One man could have faith and keep on the watch for 80 years only to die with unfulfilled expectations, although because of his faith, he won't see it that way even when he dies. Another man could live a life of debauchery his whole life and then out of fear try to make it appear that he really wanted to do what was right all along at the last moment because he witnessed clues that the end was nigh. What kind of test would that be then? If that were true, there would be no meaning behind the word, faith, which is the assurance in things hoped for, proof of things not seen.-Heb 11:1
To me, all these events should motivate us to reevaluate ourselves, our lives, our outlook, our conduct, our treatment of other people, etc.. To do the opposite would be to fulfill Jesus' prophecy of false profits spreading fear and anxiety trying to scare people into loving God, rather than loving God out of a heartfelt desire based upon love and honor.

Also...Eve is hot. This is some spank bank material for young JW boys.
LOL. I remember being younger and there was a WT article on Joseph and Potipher's wife, and I was going through puberty. Something about the way they illustrated Potipher's wife in the picture made me question Joseph's sanity.
By the way, notice the snake in that picture, sort of reminds me of the subtle sexual undertones in the Shake Weight commercials.
